Fritillaria meleagris

Fritillaria meleagris (Checkered Lily) blooms very early with chocolatey-purple flowers and occasionally white. The foliage dies back early so can be underplanted among other plants. I usually plant vegetables over it when the weather warms enough. It is very hardy in Fairbanks.
